According to Syrian media, which sources Syrian Prime Minister Bashar Assad, which sources Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minsiter Olmert is ready to negotiate giving away the Golan Heights for a peace treaty with Syria.
If this is true, it is time for Israelis to break the coallition and form a new government. Giving away Gaza, which is an overpopulated barron wasteland, was a bad idea. Imagine giving away the homes of 20,000 Israelis, the bulk of the national wine industry, and an important strategic highland. This is what Olmert wants to do, allegedly.
This mishagas needs to stop. Like Jerusaelm, the Golan Heights were annexed by Israel after the 1967 war. The Golan is part of Israel. While some, mostly Muslim nations, would call it “occupied”, Israelis call it “home”.
