West Bank Battle on Facebook

One morning, Palestinians across the West Bank woke up to see that their city had “Israel” after it. This enraged many, who claim to live in Palestine. Facebook responded to the complaints, and changed every city in the West Bank to “Palestine.” When the Israelis living across the West Bank woke up and saw that, they were upset and started to send complaints to Facebook.

This seemingly harmless social networking site has been sucked into the situation as well as many others. Facebook groups exist in remembrance of those killed in terrorist attacks, groups exist to “honor” the terrorist, and groups exist asking Facebook to delete groups honoring terrorists.

This platform has become a political tool as well as a social tool.
