I had a public Hasbara moment this weekend, and it seems appropriate to share here.
I was at my local county political party convention on Saturday, and our 1500 person delegation was discussing the party platform.
I noticed a point regarding Israel early on, and was keeping my ears open for amendments. Not to my surprise, when we were finishing up, someone tried to slide in an amendment changing the current text to include "Palestine" as a partner for peace. I will not include the full text, but the amendment made the section slanted to be anti-Israel.
I got up in front of the 1500 people and argued against the amendment. We ended up changing it to take Israel out of the text, but it was better to be neutral than anti-Israel. I consider it a victory.
The moral of this, anyone can make a difference. I was booed by some, cheered by others, but I did my part to help Israel in my county in Colorado.
