Hamas, who controls the Gaza Strip, announced that it intends to cut all economic ties with Israel.
This would actually be a great stride for the Palestinian people, who are reliant on a number of other nations for support.
However, is it possible? Unlike its Arab neighbors, Gaza does not have the infrastructure to support a cutoff from Israel. It has no airport, no deep sea port, and no industry. Gaza cannot grow or produce food at the present, and has a large, dense population to feed.
It is a lofty goal that would be great for both Israel and Gazans. But it is not possible that this time.
