Abbas Calls For Peace With Israel, From Both Sides, Kind Of

by Eric on February 26, 2008

Palestinian Authority President Abbas called for Hamas to end rocket attacks and for Israel to lift the blockade between Gaza and Israel. This is a great move from the Fatah leader, as Israel and the Palestinians are struggling through peace talks. Terrorism and Jerusalem seem to be the tough points to get through.

Something I have been wondering, however, is whether Abbas is genuine. Does Abbas say the same things in English and Arabic? His predecessor, the late Yasser Arafat, definitely did not.

The picture on the right is from Fatah controlled PA television. It is a picture of “Palestine from river to sea.” This was released the day after the Annapolis conference that was an effort to renew peace talks.

So, what is Abbas really saying? Keep an eye on Palestinian Media Watch to know what Abbas is really saying, and what his people have to say about Israel and peace.
