The "Silent Majority"

Following the 50 rockets fired yesterday, Israel “Locked Down” the Gaza Strip. This is a preventative measure intended to stop the attacks on Sderot and other nearby cities.

It is unfortunate that the innocent civilians in Gaza are being subjected to this, yet it is not intended to kill them. Israel must do what it has to in order to protect its citizens.

Many people speak out against action such as these, yet they do not speak out against rocket firing terrorists. If the innocent civilians want to live safer, happier lives, they would stand up against the terrorists. There is a so called “silent majority” of Palestinians who want peace and security for their families, yet they do nothing. As long as they remain silent, they effectively do not exist.

To advance the prosperity of the Palestinian people, they have to follow in the path led by the Jordanians. Peace with Jordan has led to great things. A new co-operative airport is being built between Eilat and Aqaba. This will bring tourists to both Israel and Jordan. The Dead Sea has also led to several enterprises being built across boarders.

The Palestinians should learn from this. It will benefit both sides of the fence. Until then, Israel must continue to protect itself.
